An hour from Washington DC, and located along the banks of the Potomac River in Loudoun County, VA, Camp Potomac Woods offers a varied terrain including upland woods, marshlands, stream valleys, riverbanks and open fields.
The camp features a large modern dining hall, comfortable staff house, large health center, a 2 ft. to 8 ½ ft. deep swimming pool, 9 living units, as well as several trails for hiking, including the Priscilla (Foote) Oliver Trail, which spans the length of camp.
Camp programs range from general outdoor and arts and crafts to specialized programs like sports, horseback riding and canoeing. All campers will have opportunities to stargaze, play field games, swim, hike and visit the magical "Pooh Tree," and cook out over a campfire at least once during their stay.
A four-week CIT program gives girls entering grades 10 through 12 the opportunity to develop leadership skills and receive an introduction to camp counseling. Girls who have completed the CIT program are encouraged to consider being a Junior Counselor at one of the three GSCNC resident camps.
